Want to drive a Ferrari? System 3 can help. E-mail

Well, on a gaming platform at least, Developer/Publisher System 3 have grabbed the license to bring Ferrari based games to Sony's PS3 and PSP as well as the Nintendo Wii and DS

As I sit here in my home in Melbourne Australia, I can hear the real F1 Ferrari's racing around the Albert Park track.   Developer System 3 (Impossible Mission) would like me to race a virtual Ferrari on my game console in the near future.

Not many details are available in this announcement other than System 3 will base the first racing game on the Ferrari Challenge real life racing series for the PS3, using "true Ferrari racing dynamics."  (most of us won't know how accurate these are).

16 Ferrari fans can race together online "with elements not yet seen in any race game"

PSP and DS owners will have a version allowing up to 4 players to compete wirelessy, whilst System 3 are promising to take advantage of the Wii's unique controller.

Look forward to June 23 for the first preview of Ferrari Challenge.  This is to coincide with the 60 year Ferrari celebrations in Maranello, Italy.

System 3 is working on other Ferrari based titles, no doubt trying to milk the license for all it is worth - maybe that is a bit cynical, if the words of System 3 CEO and founder Mark Cale are to be believe, perhaps there is some passion in bringing the joy of racing expensive cars to the general public;

Video games and racing have been my two passions during the twenty-five years that I've been in the business, Finally the two have collided and I'm immensely proud to be bringing the Ferrari Challenge to market this year. We have invested in the best development talent in the industry and I'm confident that the game will be even more impressive than the license."
