~Sybase IQ 12.7 Now Combines High Performance Data Warehouse Capability with Data Integration~

Sydney, April 30, 2007 – Sybase®, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced the immediate availability of embedded extract, transform and load (ETL) capabilities in Sybase IQ 12.7 analytics server.
Sybase IQ analytics server handles the most challenging data warehousing requirements with ease, meeting the demand for business intelligence, advanced analytics, predictive modelling, stringent regulation compliance and high-speed reporting. The addition of ETL functionality to Sybase IQ provides highly improved data integration capabilities.

“We have been watching and waiting for database implementers to catch up with Sybase IQ and its unique table and index structure, which is designed to deliver impressive performance for complex queries against large data warehouses. Recent evidence of increased adoption of this product combined with the embedded ETL feature that Sybase is announcing for release 12.7 improves the market competitiveness of Sybase IQ,” said Carl Olofson, Research Vice President, Information Management and Data Integration Software Research, IDC.

Sybase’s robust line-up of innovative technologies including Sybase IQ, Sybase PowerDesigner® and the Sybase Data Integration Suite deliver results for mission-critical analytics applications. Some of the world’s largest data warehouses run on Sybase IQ analytics server, and customers include leading global organisations such as Nielsen Media Research, Morgan Stanley Spain, China Telecom, Samsung Life Insurance, First National Bank of South Africa and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“The ETL functionality of the Sybase IQ analytics server enables enterprises to quickly realise the value of business intelligence,” said Robert Spinks, Sales Director at Sybase. “Sybase continues to anticipate enterprise needs by providing the most rapid and complete analytics offerings anytime, anywhere. The ability to address these market needs is reflected by double-digit growth of Sybase IQ, year over year, for Q1 2007.”

Embedded ETL functionality in Sybase IQ analytics server provides an easy method for building data transfers and a faster way to move, convert and maintain data. Key benefits of Sybase IQ with ETL include:

Improved load function: Embedded rich ETL tools support streamlined, rapid modeling and deployment of an analytics environment.

Enhanced security: Column-level encryption option, password formatting, and multiplex login management features support a more secure analytics environment.

Enhanced usability: Improved Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) functionality includes windowing and statistical functions to facilitate implementation.

Additionally, the intuitive ETL development tooling and scalable ETL server architecture delivers easy set-up, maintenance and management of data and it automatically produces the full ETL documentation loading by eliminating the need for hand-coding the entire ETL process.
