Sydney, May 8, 2007 -Smartpath, an innovative Australian software and hardware asset management company, has appointed James Pott as Software Architect, based in the company’s Melbourne office.
Pott, a first class honours graduate and formerly with the Royal Australian Air Force, has responsibility for the ongoing architecture of the company’s Loc8 suite of software and SaaS (software as a service) products, as well as for identifying advancements in technology suitable for integration into Smartpath solutions.  In a managerial role, Pott will also facilitate the software development process and cultivate the path for the personal and professional growth of 11 development staff.  Most recently, he worked as senior software developer with Internet Business Systems Australia where he occupied a number of positions including J2ee development team lead for finance applications, Account Manager, Support Manager and Operations Manager. With expertise in software processes (agile + XP) and Enterprise Software Design (Java/JEE), he has worked predominantly in the government and financial services sectors, including Macquarie Bank Limited and National Bank.  Prior, Pott worked with Andersen Consulting in Brisbane for two years and then relocated to Melbourne to work on the Macquarie Bank and F2 trading portal in 2000.   Pott started his career as an electronics technician with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1988 and attended Griffith University, Queensland, graduating in 1997 with a First Class (Honours) Bachelor of Information Technology, majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems.  He was invited to study further on a PhD scholarship but declined preferring instead to put his skills to practical application within an innovative software company.  “We’re pleased James has recognised the technical ability and ambition within the Smartpath team, as we know it’s a competitive recruitment market out there,” said Owen Batt, Technical Director at Smartpath. “We’re competing on an international stage so we have to attract and recruit the best technical staff. Our current technology strategy and product roadmap will ensure James is suitably stimulated for someone with his expertise and that our customers will benefit from this.” About SmartpathFounded in 2001, Smartpath provides asset management software and professional services to give companies total visibility and control of their fixed and IT assets including the location, condition, value and status. Smartpath’s flagship solution, Loc8, is a business control solution that enables companies to gain a consolidated view of their assets, meet statutory reporting and compliance requirements, mitigate risk, manage asset additions, disposals and transfers, control procurement and maintenance costs and leverage the value of assets throughout their organisation. Headquartered in Sydney with an office in Melbourne, Smartpath works internationally across all industries, predominantly engineering, health, IT, petro-chemical, resources, manufacturing, transportation, building and construction and government.  Customers include Royal North Shore Hospital Attorney General’s Department, Qantas, Westfield, Australian Insurers’ Group, Bureau of Meteorology and Fuji-Xerox and partners include Nortel and ARA Group.  For company information, please visit: http://www.smartpath.com.au .
