The company says the service will be delivered to "a new consumer market" and that more details including the customer's name, will be released "in the near future". The deal marks the company's entry into the consumer market and it is being extremely bullish about future prospects, noting that, with 2.8 million broadband customers in Australia, the potential market for IPTV set-top boxes is worth "hundreds of millions of dollars". It adds that "due to the potential of such a new business in Australia and internationally additional sources of funds may be required in the short term." Mobilesoft is a specialist provider of remote and diverse data communication solutions and products. Founded in 1994, it operates in the banking, logistics, distribution, entertainment, retail and utilities industries and counts some of Australia's largest companies among its customer base. A key component of its set-top box is its ADAPT software which "meets the demands of a triple play implementation by being able to prioritise the delivery of video on demand (TV), voice (VoIP) and data (Internet," according to Mobilesoft. The company has traditionally supplied its ADAPT technology for "industrial-strength" network applications. In mid 2005 it was awarded its largest ever order for the ADAPT, worth $5 million, from NSW gaming agency Tabcorp, for installation in over 2000 Tabcorp retail outlets to provide traffic prioritisation, encryption, authentication and data compression for communication with the central wagering system.
