They use multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology to carry data on the multiple radio paths present when any radio transmitter is used in a confined space and which, generally, inhibit data rates by causing interference. According to Ian Mclean, Netgear's original RangeMax family of products "[became] the top selling MIMO range globally. The new product family includes the RangeMax 240 WPNT834 wireless router (RRP: $339) that provides a data rate of up to 240Mbps when used with the RangeMax 240 WPNT511 wireless notebook adapter (RRP: $219). The MIMO technology is sourced from Airgo Networks. The new products also incorporate: a new adaptive channel expansion technology for dynamically increasing performance to support bandwidth-intensive applications in a Wi-Fi friendly way; automatic channel selection to provide the clearest and most available channel connections; and hardware accelerated encryption for 128bit AES, TKIP and WEP standards.
