The company claims that its Instant Voice Messaging Service (iVMS) is "a new, simple and intuitive voicemail experience that will increase data traffic and call completion...attract new users and expand revenue opportunities for the mobile operators." Calls for subscribers are forwarded to the iVMS platform, which operates alongside the standard voicemail platform. The voice message of the caller is taken and incorporated into MMS format and sent to the recipient using the mobile operator's existing multimedia message switching centre. "These trials are being conducted in Australia and SE Asia, and extensive testing with common handsets in the marketplace has shown that the delivery of voicemail via MMS is now not only practical but a superior user experience," said Peter Marks, head of research and development for Whitesmiths.
